FirstFry Foods makes frozen french fries and potato specialities in Gujarat, India, and sells them by the container to importers, distributors and foodservice operators. From 4 to 6 November our export team is at booth B3-E06 at SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia in Jakarta, to meet Indonesian buyers in person and talk through specifications, packs and supply terms.
SIAL is a purely B2B show. The SIAL Network show page lists distributors, agents and wholesalers, importers, hotels and institutional caterers, fast-food and café operators, and supermarkets and e-commerce retailers among its qualified visitors. Those are the buyers we came to meet.

Questions to put to any frozen french fries exhibitor
A trade show is the cheapest way to screen several suppliers in one day. These five questions decide whether a supplier can land product in Indonesia at all. Ask them at every stand, ours included.
- Who certified your halal status, and is that body recognised in Indonesia?On 16 October 2026 the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs announced that the halal obligation for imported food and beverages will start on 18 October 2028 instead of October 2026, to allow time for mutual recognition agreements with foreign halal bodies (press release, in Indonesian). The change takes effect through an amendment to Government Regulation 42 of 2024 that had not been issued at the time of writing. Whether a foreign certificate can be registered in Indonesia still depends on BPJPH recognising the body that issued it, so ask for the body's name and the scope it covers.
- What will you send for the BPOM registration?The Indonesian importer registers every product with BPOM before the first import. The file needs the supplier's specification, ingredient list, nutrition data and shelf-life basis for each product, so an opening range of two or three products registers faster than ten.
- Which cut and size suit my menu or shelf?Fry size changes cook time, yield and holding. Bring your current specification, or the pack you buy now, and compare like for like. Our guide to fry cut sizes explains the trade-offs.
- Which port, and which Incoterm?Jakarta lands through Tanjung Priok, and Surabaya and eastern Indonesia through Tanjung Perak. We quote FOB or CIF to the port you name.
- What does the first order look like?Ask for the minimum order, the lead time and the sample-to-container sequence in writing. Ours follows the six steps from sample request to first container.

Visiting SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia: entry, badge and dress code
Register on the organiser's visitor page before you travel. Registration is free. You receive a QR code, which you exchange for a physical badge at the venue, and each badge admits one person and cannot be transferred.
The organiser enforces a few rules at the door. No one under 17 is admitted, even with an adult. Visitors must wear business attire and covered shoes; singlets, shorts and flip-flops are refused. Luggage, trolleys and suitcases are not allowed in the halls, and visitors coming straight from the airport can leave bags at the luggage deposit.
The same badge covers the Indonesia Food Transport & Logistics Expo, which runs alongside SIAL and brings together transport and cold-chain suppliers. An importer still planning the reefer leg from Tanjung Priok to its own cold store can meet those suppliers on the same visit. The organiser also runs a business matching programme that books meetings between exhibitors and qualified buyers.
SIAL InterFOOD, SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia and Krista InterFood
SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia is the new name of SIAL InterFOOD, and many event directories and visa sites still use the old one. Both names point to the same show at JIExpo Kemayoran, 4–6 November.
Krista InterFood is a separate show. It runs 4–7 November 2026 at NICE PIK2 in Tangerang, Banten, according to its own website. Some listings put "SIAL InterFOOD" in Tangerang or give it a 7 November closing date, which mixes the two up. SIAL is at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta and closes on 6 November.
After Jakarta: SIAL Vietnam, 11–14 November
A week later we exhibit at the first edition of SIAL Vietnam at booth B1-BN16, held together with Vietnam Food Expo at SECC in Ho Chi Minh City from 11 to 14 November 2026. Do frozen french fries imported into Indonesia need halal certification in 2026?
On 16 October 2026 Indonesia announced that the halal obligation for imported food and beverages will start on 18 October 2028 instead of October 2026. The amending regulation was still to be issued at the time of writing, so confirm the current position with your importer, and ask any supplier which body issued its halal certificate and whether BPJPH recognises it.
